12th week Physiotherapy Reevaluation

My physiotherapist did another evaluation. From his standpoint, I'm well on track with my range of motion. His assessment is as follows:

  • Flexion - 51°
  • Right Side-Bending (RSB) - 30°
  • Left Side-Bending (LSB) - 32°
  • Core Strength - 4/5
  • Hip Flex/Abduction - 4+/5
  • Straight Leg Raise: Right - 87°, Left - 86°
  • Sit and Reach to Ankle
According to his assessment, I have improved in all areas. After I voiced my unrealistic expectations of wanting to attain the same level of flexibility prior to surgery, he recommended another 4 weeks of therapy. Thus, I am still going 3 days a week. There has been a slight change in my workout routine. All the weights I've been working with have increased by one pound. Additionally, two exercises have been incorporated to work on my core strength: walk-out and push-ups on the medicine ball, and walk-out with leg raise, again on the medicine ball.

  1. How are you doing Suzie? Are you feeling better week to week? I hope so. I just started PT and it is helping to stretch nd strengthen my soft tissues that have been in disfunction for so long. Have a great holiday! :)

  2. Hiya Kevin! Thanks. Yes, I'm doing much better now. I'm still going to PT so I'm getting stronger and more flexible. How are your sessions going? Did you ever go in for your x-rays?

Hope you enjoy this holiday season! Merry Christmas!

  3. Hi Suzie, I stumbled across your blog and I was wondering about this procedure. I have a severely herniated L5/S1 disc and it's looking like I'll need this procedure. I noticed you're in Australia, did you get the op done here and who through also how much does it cost? I am seeing a surgeon in a couple of weeks to discuss but I'm keen to know as much as I can before I go..

    Thanks for any info, James
