Wicked Scar
It's been exactly 10 weeks post surgery. The scar still looks pretty wicked even though I've been using Mederma (gel applied topically to diminish the appearance of scars). Most of the swelling has gone down around the incision. To the touch, there are certain areas along the scar that is completely numb and you can definitely feel the scar tissue. I believe there is some permanent nerve damage along the incision. It has been more than 2 months and the sensation has yet to return. Oh well. The scar looks unsightly for sure, but on the upside the pain and itching subsided. Here's what it looks like:

Mine is like that too, Suzie. I had a two level lumbar ADR with Dr. Clavel almost 3 weeks ago. I'm glad to see that you are doing well. Thanks for being so positive and hopeful as you are healing. Your blog is great!

Oh wow! How are you doing? Thanks Kevin for your kind words! It's definitely nice to hear from a fellow ADR patient especially one of Dr. Clavel's. I hope your surgery went well and that you're recovering nicely.
DeleteHi Suzie,
ReplyDeleteI'm doing okay. I have some residual nerve issues in my feet that I have to work out, but I can tell week to week that I am getting better. :) once I get to the 6 week mark, I will have more confidence that the devices are bonding to the vertebras and be able to move a bit more at the waist, I think. I may get a 6 week xray though to be sure things are looking good in there. :) I am glad your recovery is going well. Dr. Clavel has been terrific and I'm glad he was my surgeon as I'm sure you are too.
Hi Kevin,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as though you're doing much better than I am. :) Hopefully, the pain in your feet will subside with time. Good luck with the x-ray; I'm sure the implants are settling in perfectly with the vertebrae. :) And yes, I do believe Dr. Clavel is the best. Hope all is well!
Hi Suzie, I had 2 level ADR 3 mos. ago in my lumbar spine. I was just wondering how your scar looks this long after the surgery. Mine still looks pretty angry.
ReplyDeleteKevin, I also have soreness/pain in my feet that glares up when I am on my feet for too long. Is that what you experienced? Did it get better?
Thanks.
